I've always wondered in looking back at this photo, taken in 2002, if the bird in the sky was a big pileated woodpecker.

I am a National Park Service hydrologist at Big Cypress National Preserve who works in collaboration with Florida Gulf Coast University, the Big Cypress Basin, and the multi-agency Big Cypress Watersheds Team.
